Board Member

Mrs. Marie Benjamin

Marie Benjamin is a Board Member of Safe Mothers Initiative and has worked for the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa Sierra Leone (SWAASL). Marie holds a postgraduate Master's degree in Gender Studies and has over the past 20 years managed SWAASL as a community-based organisation and NGO working with women living with HIV and AIDS and providing HIV prevention for vulnerable women and other populations. Marie is passionate about her contribution and role in the HIV response in Sierra Leone, especially working with communities. Key areas of interest are women’s rights, women’s empowerment, HIV prevention for women and providing support (psychosocial support, mental support) and a safe space for women to access these services.
